The love and sacrifice of agricultural workers, especially her parents, inspired Koralia to write this poem. She grew up watching them work long hours in the fields in the hot sun so that her family could have a better future, even though it meant they could not spend time with their children. Koralia also experienced the hard work and exhaustion of working in the fields before she joined the Project Protect Promotora Network.

The words of her parents, "estudie para que no trabajé como burro" have always inspired her to keep moving forward and honor the sacrifices they made.
